Douglas Fairbanks was a well-known clotheshorse; his closets literally overflowing with suits, shoes, coats, hats, scarves, jackets and shirts in every color of the rainbow. Although no one in early Hollywood could wear a tuxedo quite like Mr. Fairbanks, his most lasting contribution to men’s fashion today was making casual and sportswear fashionable and acceptable at social gatherings, on the street, and even in the office!
In the 1920s, Fairbanks helped to define “business casual” (on the Fairbanks lot, it was always casual Friday off-camera), so we’ve introduced a few new clothing items for guys and dolls who like to be comfortable while commanding a second look from passers-by.
