Although we frequently receive inquiries from persons seeking to determine the value of a Douglas Fairbanks item they own, we cannot provide this information. It is recommended that you contact a professional appraiser experienced in antiques and film memorabilia to ascertain its value. Our staff can only provide a brief history about a particular item, if known.
Can you tell me do you lend to Public Libraries outside of your State?
Hi Christine –
Yes, we do, and you are welcome to contact us about specific items available via library loan.
Due to the fact that many of our original items are extremely fragile or require special handling, not all of our collections may be available for loan. However, photocopies or digital scans can be mailed to you for a nominal fee.

Also, does the museum have any that are available for public view? I also search for Mrs. Fairbanks with no luck.

The Iron Mask (1952; 112 min) Douglas Fairbanks
In 1952, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. produced a revised version of the film which featured narration written by Richard Llewellyn and spoken by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
1929 … the silent cinema succumbed to the rise of sound technology, Douglas Fairbanks bade farewell to his swashbuckling persona with this lavish adventure film, the glorious last hurrah of big-screen chivalry.
In a return to his favorite literary character — Dumas’s heroic D’Artagnan, whom he had portrayed in 1921’s The Three Musketeers — The Iron Mask finds D’Artagnan’s romance with Constance (Marguerite De La Motte) and his brotherhood with the Musketeers threatened by the sinister Cardinal Richelieu (Nigel De Brulier) and Count De Rochefort (Ulrich Haupt).
Licensed and digitally enhanced 2009 release.

“The objective of the web page is often good for my college students. A lot of fantastic means are free of charge in right here. At first, I have launched your site to my college students in my type, so don¡¯t be puzzled in case your website hits are increase dramatically. I discuss quite a few topics, nonetheless debating in every facet that may be debated, and at the end of my class (every week), I advised them about the conclusion of your theme. Sizzling subject and environment might be fun here. And then, you could possibly be shocked that my college students received new story every single day, and also all of them can express their notion in house and college. Particularly they informed to her/his mom/dad, that they learnt several topics from teacher that learnt from you. Surprisingly that everybody desires to get new challenge inside your thought, after which when I give new topic, it is often difficult for all of my students.”

To whom it may concern,
Is there any way to be able to contact Mr. Douglas Fairbanks Jr.’s three daughters? I have some family photos that their father, who was a close personal friend of my father, sent to my father. I found them among my father’s personal memoirs. I also have some letters they might find interesting.
Respectfully,
Mark Tarallo
Mark – Best points of contact in the family would likely be Vera Fairbanks (Doug Jr.’s widow) or Dominick Fairbanks, Jayar’s grandson.
Feel free to contact us via email, or a simple Google search should yield contact information for Vera/Dominick’s representatives.
Best of luck and thanks for writing to the museum.
Daphne, Victoria, and Melissa Fairbanks, Jr – the only way to locate them is to google them – then you will have to take the process of elimination. If you have a facebook – make a post – “Is there any way to be able to contact Mr. Douglas Fairbanks Jr.’s three daughters (Daphne, Victoria, and Melissa Fairbanks, Jr)? I was wondering if the museum has any family history for Douglas Sr. I just found out that I am releated To Douglas Jr. on his mothers side. I have been trying to find information on his grandmother ( his fathers mother ) Ella Adelaide Marsh. I find that she was supposed to be from a wealthy southern family and find 3 different places of birth ( NY, VA and LA ). Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Drew –
So you’re from the Sully side of the family? Great to hear from you.
Yes, we do have a good deal of family history and geneaology information on both Doug Sr.’s father (H.C. Ulman) and his mother, Ella Adelaide Marsh-Fairbanks.
We can send you photocopies in the mail or email files to you for a small duplication fee. Please contact us directly by phone or email to discuss your needs and we will target our records search accordingly.
Thanks for writing!
Chom Rep Sur from Cambodia,
my name is Michael and I am the German born General Manager of Lolei Travel (Cambodia) in Siem Reap near the world famous temples of Angkor, where “Lord Jim” (1965), “Lara Croft – Tomb Raider” (2001), “Transformers 3” (2011) and many more movies were made.
Our new “Angkor Movie Tour” includes basic information about “Around the World in 80 Minutes with Douglas Fairbanks” (1931), because Mr. Fairbanks was in Cambodia for his travelogue and the temples can be seen in this movie. However, I am sure that YOU can tell me more details about his stay in Cambodia.
Please feel free to contact me and tell me everything about Douglas Fairbanks and his adventures in Cambodia. I will be more than happy to include all kinds of information to our tour and share your knowledge with our tourists.
And do not hesitate to visit our beautiful “Kingdom of Wonder” and follow the paths of your great star 80 years later!
Best regards from Siem Reap
Michael

Hi,
I wonder if you can help me. I have been researching my family history on and off for over 10 years.
My Dad always said that we were related to Douglas Fairbanks through the Marsh line, I was a Marsh, and that Douglas himself came looking for my fathers line in the 1920’s or 1930’s but was sent away by accident.
If you have any info on Ella’s father, who I would imagine is the brother of my great, great grandad that would awesome.
Hoping you can help.
Regards, Rae
Hello Rae — We do have quite a bit of info on Doug’s parents, but not as much information about his grandparents — especially on his mother’s side.
We would be happy to perform a search of our files for you and see what we can find about Ella’s father. Photocopies of any documents responsive to your research request are available for a small fee plus postage costs if sent via postal mail.
Please drop us an email to get the process started.

Silver-plated ONEDIA spoon – early 1930s. There were 12 in the set. Value is subjective. Sometimes, depending upon who is collecting on which star or who needs the few spoons in the set they do not have – these spoon sell on ebay from $2.50 – 10.00 each. Sometimes you can find entire set for $15.00. They are silver plated and there are many out there…
Hi, enjoy the great work you do. Wondering if you know if Doug Sr. or Jr. (and/or their descendants) were aware that the character of Superman was based alot on Doug Sr.? This fact has been quoted in interviews over the years with creators Schuster/Siegel, as well as that Harold Lloyd (who sure looks a lot like Clark Kent) was the other inspiration. Altho the cape and “Z” for Zorro (transposed into an “S” for Superman?) and leaping tall buildings in a single bound are definitely Fairbanks……!
